Canada Aviation and Space Museum Director General Stephen Quick Elected President of the International Association of Transport Museums

OTTAWA, August 7, 2015 –Canada Aviation and Space Museum Director General Stephen Quick, was elected president of the International Association of Transport Museums (IATM) at their annual conference in Portugal held in June. Mr. Quick who has deep roots in Canada’s arts and culture sector, is the first President elected outside of Europe.

“The International Association of Transport Museums is all about sharing best practices, exchanging ideas and making a difference for museums around the globe. This is an incredible opportunity to work with international partners on collaborative projects.  It is truly an honour to have been elected to this position. Much work was done to raise the profile of the association under the steady guidance of the former president, Robert Sjoo. Our first task will be to build on this work and set a solid path for the continued relevance of the association.”

-        Stephen Quick, Director General, Canada Aviation and Space Museum

IATM was established in 1968 and is affiliated with the International Council of Museums (ICOM). They embrace members from many countries and work for active collaboration across national borders between museums within its special field.
