Remembrance Week at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum

OTTAWA, November 5, 2015 — The Canada Aviation and Space Museum is pleased to present special programming for Remembrance Day, as it remembers those Canadians who served their country with honour and pride, and those that made the ultimate sacrifice.

November 7, 8, and 11, 2015, the Museum will pay homage to the triumphs and tragedies of Veterans and serving members of the Canadian Forces.

On Saturday, November 7, meet Marc Paul Racine, avid model builder with a passion for First World War aircraft and pilots. Inspired by Manfred von Richthofen’s autobiography, Marc became entranced by the fascinating lives of First World War fighter pilots between the ages of 18 and 25. He has built over 200 model aircraft, and will share these creations, along with the interesting stories of their pilots, at the Museum.

On Sunday, November 8, at 2 p.m., don’t miss the rare opportunity to see Canada’s two foremost military bands performing together, the Canadian Armed Forces Central Band and the Governor General’s Foot Guards Band in a concert entitled We Will Remember. This exceptional musical event honours and showcases the contributions of Canadian Veterans and currently serving military personnel. Also on November 8, a display of three decades of the CF-188 Hornet and a tribute to the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain are featured.

Other special activities include a discovery cart, a print making workshop, an interactive tour, and assembling a commemorative booklet with wartime poems.
