Freedom Wings Canada and the Gatineau Gliding Club Launches 2011 Flying Program at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum
Ottawa — The national launch of Freedom Wings Canada's Inspirational Flights 2011 season will kick off the Canada Day festivities at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum at 9:00 a.m. Additional ceremonies will take place on Canada Day at the Edmonton Soaring Club and le Club de vol à voile du Québec.
For the 2011 season, Freedom Wings Canada, in partnership with the Gatineau Gliding Club, is proud to be working with Soldier On to invite Canadian Forces personnel with permanent illness or injury as their special guests. Following a brief ceremony, with special guest, Brigadier-General Russell, Director General Air Personnel, Canadian Forces personnel will take to the skies as passengers aboard a specially adapted glider.
Freedom Wings Canada provides people with physical disabilities the opportunity to experience the joy of a free silent flight in a glider. Their flying program will be available on a weekly basis throughout the year until the fall season.
The mission of Soldier On is to provide resources and opportunities for serving and retired Canadian Forces personnel with a permanent or chronic illness or injury to actively participate in physical, recreational or sporting activities.
